China has a fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education since ancient times. As early as the Western Zhou Dynasty in the 11th century BC, there was a saying that "disciples serve teachers and respect them the same as their father", which emphasized the respect and admiration that students should have for teachers. In the Han and Jin Dynasties, every year on the 27th day of the eighth lunar month, Confucius' birthday, the emperor would hold a grand ceremony to honor Confucius' achievements in education.
Since then, the sacrificial standards of Confucius in successive dynasties have been continuously improved, and Confucius' birthday has gradually evolved into a de facto Teachers' Day, and the ceremony has also become a part of Teachers' Day celebrations. This tradition deeply reflects the high value placed on education and teachers in Chinese culture.
